I am a fan and collector of Stitchcraft, a vintage monthly British handcraft magazine featuring patterns for knitting and embroidery/tapestry as well as crochet and occasionally sewing and tatting. Stitchcraft was published from the 1930s to the 1980s for the Patons yarn company under the direction of its longtime “editress”, Patience Horne.
Most modern knitters consider the 1940s and 1950s to be Stitchcraft‘s best decades, but I love the 1960s issues as well — enough to collect a full set of 120 issues from January 1960 to December 1969. This blog documents a long-term project in which I make at least one project from each of those issues.
For the record: I am not affiliated with Stitchcraft magazine (which has been out of print for decades), or Patons yarns, or any other company involved in its publication. I just like 1960’s fashion, and making stuff.
